Continuing my planning of my Budget Backpacking Europe Quest, I have gone through the rigors of making potential ‘big picture’ itineraries for my trip. Basically, I’ve just done a lot of research and found a lot of raw data regarding prices of traveling to and from specific destinations.

When creating a budget backpacking itinerary through Europe, here is a rough outline of what to do:

1. Find cheapest flights from arrival / departure points.
2. Find cheapest flights between destinations within your Europe itinerary
3. Find Eurail/Bus pass prices
4. Put it all together, into sample “What If” travel itineraries that you would enjoy using.

Really, it’s not too difficult. I came up with thirteen viable Eurotrip travel itineraries, which are, for the most part, all appeasing to my dreams. (more…)

In the past week or so I’ve been researching my European Budget Backpacking Quest itinerary fairly extensively. I’ve become much more familiar with how to travel within Europe during my trip, which is my major concern when choosing destinations and trying to make a backpacking itinerary. So staying on course with the time table I created in the rough guide to my backpacking quest, here is a more specific itinerary that discusses how to travel within Europe. (or a few of them at least). I would appreciate any comments or suggestions!

Basically, my “aha!” moment mentioned previously was that I need to travel abroad soon, and next summer is the only time possible. I’ve always dreamed of a European backpacking trip, so why not? Well, actually, I can think of many reasons why not to. But my desire to go abroad trumps those reasons right now. Below is a rough outline of the Budget Backpacking Quest that I hope to take in the summer of 2008.
