Top Worldwide Hotel Brands Announced

Quick travel news post here. A travel report was just released naming the top 20 worldwide hotel brands. The list is dominated by familiar American hotel brands, and I think it may be an interesting tidbit to budget travelers who like a bit of travel trivia. So here are the fifteen most popular hotel brands and hotel groups (by number of rooms) in the world…

Best Western
Holiday Inn
Marriott
Comfort
Hilton
Days Inn
Holiday Inn Express
Hampton
Sheraton
Super 8
Quality
Ramada
Courtyard
Motel 6
Hyatt Hotels

One of the things travelers must remember though, is that there really isn’t that much diversity in hotel brands. Most of these brands are owned by several larger groups. Intercontinental, Wyndham Worldwide, and Marriott are the biggest three hotel groups.

The actual travel report lists a bunch of growth statistics regarding the movement and shifts among the different groups and brands. I don’t think I want to bore you with all of those facts, but for statistics junkies like myself, I recommend reading the article. They also have slightly larger lists in the report, so knock yourself out, if you so please.
