Goodbye Budget Globetrotters, The End has Come
First, I feel that it is necessary to apologize to my readers for keeping them in the dark for the past few days. More importantly, I am saying goodbye to all of my readers who read this blog over the past several months. As of April 3, I will no longer be blogging on Budget Globetrotting.
I can hear my thousands tens of fans sobbing already. As for why I am leaving this budget travel blog, I’ll start from the beginning.
In the Beginning…
God created the heavens…A few months back, I became fortunate enough to be accepted into the WashingtonPost.com official sponsored blogroll. (Officially, the Washington Post Newsweek Interactive Blogroll aka WPNI). With this acceptance came an opportunity to advertise with them and the respect and acknowledgment for producing exceptional articles for my travel audience.
My Special Travel Blog
However, my site turned out to be the exception to the norm. A life changing event took place after Budget Globetrotting was accepted along with other exceptional travel blogs (Hotel Chatter, Jaunted, Travel Happy, This Non-American Life, Showintale - The Journeys, Geeky Traveller, great green travel, Las Vegas Logue, London Logue, Flyaway, More Than, Points,The Informed Traveler, TripCart, Wandalust, and Australia Blog)
A nameless senior editor happen to be browsing through a few of the selections, and thought he found a gem in yours truly, Budget Globetrotting. For some reason that I still can’t comprehend, he felt that my writing skills and potential was being underutilized on this blog. He contacted me, I almost fainted, and then took a couple days to think about his proposal.
The Offer
He offered me a job as a travel journalist for WashingtonPost.com. But, there was a catch. Since I have yet to receive a college diploma, I would first be required to graduate college with a decent GPA as a Journalism or English major. Additionally, in order to keep my future job, I would be required to be “on assignment” overseas while studying abroad for three semesters…free..paid by the Washington Post as a type of scholarship. My study abroad locations are yet to be determined, but could possibly include the Beijing Olympics in 2008!
So, after the phone call, the rest is history. On Friday I received the paperwork, and I am sending it in Monday. In the documents, I am signing away my right to write for other publications while I am an employee, so my tenure owning Budget Globetrotting is finished.
The Future of Budget Globetrotting
I have decided to sell Budget Globetrotting, but I have yet to reach an agreement with a buyer. I’ve approached several groups who were interested in buying the site in the past, and discussions are still on going with several parties. I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but the discussions include Darren Rowse of Problogger.net, 451 Press, and Expedia.com. Yep, the real Expedia.com. I did not take them seriously until they officially purchased Travel Rants, another travel blog.
My valuation of this amazing travel blog is somewhere between $17,500 and $21,300, but up to this point, the offers have been just shy of $16,000, causing a potential delay of this sale. So I apologize if it is not updated due to sale negotiations.
If you are still reading this, I hope you have figured out this is just a joke inspired by the Travel Rants April Fool’s Day Post above. So there it is: April Fools!
I was too consumed with jealousy to notice it was a joke.
Very good. Very, very good. Maybe I shouldn't admit this infront of your readership of thou...er...'tens' (and, of course, the addition squillions of readers from travelrants, problogger, and WP) - but you had me to the very last word.
In fact I had to read the last sentence a couple of times before I realised! Doh!
In my defence, it is still early on a Sunday morn.
Nice one!

What a gag! I really love your funny narrations. I was almost led to believe that its true!
You total bastard. I was reading that wailing "where's MY invite to write for the Washington Post"!
thanks guys
.....haha who am I kidding?
yeah I guess my blog is just head and shoulders above the other WPNI travel blogroll blogs
I don't actually plan on selling this blog anytime in the near future, but I would definitely consider offers for it if they're a sixth of my above valuation
