Online Booking Revolution 2- Farecast flight prediction
By Nick October 6, 2006
In Part 2 of my mini series “Online Booking Revolution,” (Part 1 - Flyspy) I’m going to cover Farecast.com So what is Farecast? Farecast, put simply, is a site finds the cheapest flights, and predicts what the fares will be in the future based on historical data.
If you enter a departure date within the next 90 days from one of the available airports, Farecast will kick out a “Fare Prediction,” telling you to buy now or wait because the prices will rise. A picture is worth a thousand words, so look below for an example.

The search returns a long list of flights available with the fare prediction at the top. When you book a flight through farecast, you actually book it through the airline’s website. That is a huge positive, because you do not have to worry about Farecast promoting expensive flights to make a better commission.
Honestly, I think farecast is a pretty neat tool for anyone planning to book flights. Whether it works or not, I don’t know. That would require days of research, testing the sites predictions. Personally, I would trust the predictions because they seem to have received won over the public opinion.
Other features worth being noted are “Know where to travel” and “Know when to travel,” which are pretty self explanatory. So bookmark Farecast.com, and make sure you check it out before booking any flights, ever.
