Bangkok Thailand airport Suvarnabhumi opening?
By Nick September 2, 2006
Bangkok’s new, hyped airport Suvarnabhumi (NBK) & (su-wan-na-poom) is expected to open on September 28, 2006 to replace the aging Don Mueang, Bangkok’s current international airport.
A recent Forbes article discusses the dark side of the recent air port opening. The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) warns that the airport will be opening too early. They think that an early opening will result in unwanted operational problems.

Airport officials are looking to open Suvarnabhumi ASAP, since they want to get the airlines settled in their new homes to be able to handle the expected increase in tourism next year. Bangkok handled 13 million arrivals this year, but is expecting 14 million next year.
To open or not to open? It will open. AirAsia has announced that they would move to Suvarnabhumi 3 days before the opening on the 25. Here’s the story on AirAsia moving to the new airport. Check out airport-technology for a detailed list of specs at Suvarnabhumi.
